Zone focus

I don’t shoot film. I would love to shoot more film but it is too expensive. I shoot a lot of my ‘everyday’ images with a Fuji Xpro2 (my favourite camera, mainly because of the shutter sound and feel!). This year I forced myself to shoot with a manual lens as much as possible, so much so that 90% of the my personal images are now manual focus. This helps me with video when at races, I prefer to manual focus where possible to avoid that digital motion feel.

Recently I tried to get better at Zone Focus. Basically you dial in the lens to focus at a distance and then take photos of people who hit that distance…sounds easy right! NO! I have started with 3metres, which you think you have nailed but it is proving to take longer to learn than expected…
