The Run Up

I got a call from Oliver Grenaa a few months ago to talk about filming for a new women’s cycling bases series, would I like to be involved? As you can imagine I jumped at the chance. I arrived in Belgium not quite sure what to expect. I knew my brief and what I was asked to do but did not prepare myself for the scale of this project. It was impressively exciting to see women’s cycling get the attention and focus it deserves.

I have met Oliver a few times, we met first through his partner (or should I say fiancée) JoJo Harper. I know his work. I admire his talent. I had not seen him in a directors roll before. The passion and dedication to follow this through was hugely satisfying to watch. His attention to detail and ability to constantly see the bigger picture was infectious. Congrats mate!

I got to work with such a fantastic team, travel chats with Corinne and freelance pondering with Alex. It really did feel like we were all part of something very special. All super eager to see the final edit, supporting each other along the way.

If you haven’t already seen it, please make sure you take the time to invest in this series. It really is something great, something we have been waiting for for so long. We can no longer hear the calls of “Women’s cycling doesn’t get the same attention as the men”, only you can change that now - the goods are being served and it is your responsibility to take it all in. The more you consume the more gets made, the more that gets made the bigger the sport will grow to the masses and there are so many more stories to tell, so many more characters to explore and much more to come.
